The Lemp Mansion Restaurant and Inn celebrates 45 years in St. Louis with a public Open House to be held Saturday, July 16th from 11am to 3pm

The Lemp Mansion, once owned by St. Louis Brewer William Lemp, was purchased by Richard Pointer in 1973 and has been operated by the Pointer family as The Lemp Mansion Restaurant and Inn for the past 45 years. In that time the location has become known by generations of St. Louisans not only as a restaurant featuring the world famous Lemp Mansion Family Style Sunday Chicken Dinner, but also as an award winning location for overnight accommodations, a beautiful wedding venue and event space, and world renowned haunted destination that has been named by CNN Travel as one of the top five haunted locations in the world. The Lemp Mansion has been the subject of many books, television programs and paranormal investigation spots over the years.

To celebrate the past 45 years in St. Louis, an Open House, scheduled for July 16th will feature a variety of events for the public to enjoy. Among these will be a book signing by Stephen Walker, author of Lemp: The Haunting History, considered by many as the definitive anthology of Lemp Family History. Also on hand will be longtime Lemp historian Betsy Burnett-Belanger. Betsy, a Haunted History Paranormal Investigator and director of Lemp Mansion Haunted history tours , will be offering the public an opportunity to get a glimpse of the upper 2nd and 3rd floors of the Mansion regularly not available to the general public. Lemp Family and Lemp Brewery artifacts will be available for viewing in the Lemp Mansion Museum so guests can learn a bit about the Lemp Family and brewing history in St. Louis from Lemp Museum curator, Marcia Stamm. Dr. Mark Farley, operator of the St. Louis Paranormal Research Society will also be on hand to discuss his findings of investigations at the Lemp Mansion and describe how the public can perform their own investigations with infrared camera tours.

In addition to these events musician Knez Jakovac, who has performed from coast to coast in the United States and in 20 countries around the globe during his 30 year career, will be playing the Brach Mandolin While the roots of the brac are in tamburica (the traditional folk music of Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina), Knez has adapted songs from many other musical traditions as well as American standards for his Balkan inspired playing and will be performing through-out the day.

Paul Pointer will be on hand to discuss the history of the Lemp Mansion Restaurant and Inn as well as some of the notable guests and staff members along with stories learned from renovations, guests and research since it’s opening. Guests will also have an opportunity to share their own experiences and anecdotes from time spent at the Lemp Mansion via video, audio and written communications with LempStories History Project.

Complimentary light snacks will be provided during the Open House and a cash bar will be available as well as raffles and door prizes of Lemp Mansion related items including the Escape from Lemp Mansion Board Game, T shirts, and more.
